Antonella Ghersetti

Antonella Ghersetti is associate professor of Arabic Language and Literature at Università Ca’ Foscari, Venice (Italy). She has a PhD in Semitic Studies (Semitic Linguistics),Università degli Studi, Florence (Italy), taken with a thesis on Arabic rhetorics. Her main interests and fields of research: are Medieval Arabic literature, mainly prose (adab literature); Arabic linguistics (the Arabic linguistics tradition); physiognomics in the Arab world.
She is member of IPOCAN, Istituto per l’Oriente «Carlo Alfonso Nallino», Rome and of UEAI (Union Européenne des Arabisants et Islamisants).. She is on the editorial commitee of «Quaderni di Studi Arabi n.s.»; «Journal of Arabic and Islamic Studies» e «al-Masaq».

Among her recent publications: there is the Italian translation, with introduction and notes, of al-Khatib al-Baghdadi, Kitab al-tatfil, (Catanzaro 2006, 207 p.).
