Maria Pia Pedani

curriculum

Graduate in Foreign Languages and Literatures in the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice, and in Humanities in the University of Trieste. After many years spent working in the Venetian States Archives she is now Associate Professor of History of Islamic Countries in the University Ca' Foscari of Venice, Department of Historical Studies. She teaches History of the Ottoman Empire in the PISAI, Pontificio Istituto di Studi Arabi e Islamistica, in Rome.


She is member of IsIAO, Istituto Italiano per l'Africa e l’Oriente, IPOCAN, Istituto per l’Oriente «Carlo Alfonso Nallino», SIHMed, Société Internationale des Historiens de la Méditerranée, CIÉPO, Comité International d’Études Pré-Ottomanes et Ottomanes, IAOSEH, International Association for Ottoman and Social History, and of the MSG, Mediterranean Studies Group of the University Hitosubashi (Tokyo). She is member of the advisory board of the journal «Tarih incelemeleri dergisi» of University Ege of Izmir (Turkey).
